Experience the Northern Cape, South Africa

The Riemvasmaak Hot Springs are one of the many natural wonders in the province of extremes. Located between the Orange and Molopo rivers in Riemvasmaak, the hot springs are surrounded by granite cliffs, and offer spectacular views of the mountain desert and wilderness.

The naturally warm spring waters and the rocky terrain are a result of volcanic eruptions that occurred aeons ago. The volcanoes are no longer active but the underground activity still heats the spring water, providing gloriously warm swimming pools all year round. It's a great spot for a day or overnight trip with your whole family during the upcoming school holidays.

Visitors can unwind in the hot springs while taking in the area’s beautiful views. Some of the unique and indigenous vegetation you can view here includes the camel thorn, while wild animals such antelope and baboons can also be spotted.

For a longer stay visitors can book accommodation in Riemvasmaak, and enjoy the hospitality of the local communities. Other activities you can enjoy include birdwatching, and 4x4 and hiking trails, among others.

North of the hot springs is the Augrabies Falls, and just an hour and a half away is Kakamas.
