The Northern Cape is the only region in Africa to be included in the Rough Guides Top 10 Regions to visit in 2016.
The respected travel guide publication wrote: "Hard work pays off – and that’s certainly the case when it comes to exploring South Africa’s Northern Cape, an area covering one third of the country’s landmass and seldom explored by visitors. Power through the vast distances involved in travel here, and you’ll be rewarded with swathes of wildflowers blooming amid the region’s red dunes, mountain deserts and wildlife including the black-maned lion of the Kalahari. Take the time to visit the lands of the San Bushmen, the oldest population of humans on Earth, or indulge your inner adrenaline junkie with kayak tours into Richtersveld National Park via the Orange River’s white-water rapids."
The accolade is an affirmation of the work done to position the Northern Cape as a desirable and must-see destination within Southern Africa.
Travellers are encouraged to take time out of their busy schedules and explore the vast landscapes of the Kalahari, see the world’s 6th largest waterfall, meet the first people (the San), witness the landscape come alive each spring with a burst of colour, visit one of 5 national parks or provincial parks - this is what the Northern Cape is about.
We have worked towards this recognition for the past years promoting the Northern Cape as a real destination, offering real culture, adventure and nature and the opportunity to disconnect from the world and re-connect with one self and your close ones and re-discover that what is important.
We look forward to welcoming domestic and international visitors in 2016!
