KALAHARI REGION, NORTHERN CAPE

The Kalahari Region in the Northern Cape is home to 40 raptor and vulture species, seven owl species, and a vast selection of game farms. It is bordered by Namibia, Botswana, the Free State, and the North West Province and is known for its mystical sunsets, red Kalahari sand dunes, and uncluttered horizons. An ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore its unique beauty. Whether you’re looking to go on safari or just take in the stunning views, the Kalahari Region has something for everyone.

The name Kalahari comes from the San word meaning a place without water. Interestingly, some parts of the Kalahari Desert have gone without water for years and are flat featureless plains, but there is usually water beneath the surface.

The region is popular for its guided self-drive overland tours through the Kalahari and Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Visitors can also look forward to exploring and enjoying a variety of activities including the Dells location of Kalahari Resorts, which boasts both indoor and outdoor water park areas, plus the Tom Foolerys Adventure Park on dry land, which includes a bowling alley, a mini golf course, and more.
