Air – Extreme adventure

Bridge Swinging

Fancy jumping from a bridge? Many of those adrenaline-craving types do. Join the fearless as you leap off one bridge only to be swung through the air (and over the water) on a rope attached to the other.

Helicopter Trips

In association with Kriek helicopters, Mattanu Private Game Reserve offers an exciting bushveld dinner fly-in experience from Kimberley. Kriek helicopters also offer transfers to other luxury game lodges in the area and flights over the Big Hole.

Hot Air Ballooning

Lifting off from the Augrabies area your balloon will drift over the lower Orange River Valley. The green verdant cultivated lands that contrast dramatically with the surrounding arid land will leave you breathless.

With almost year round sunny days and blue skies, the Northern Cape is an ideal flying destination. It is also one of the most affordable ways to see the country from the air and microlight flights over the many game reserves offer a non-traditional type of ‘safari’.

Thermals soar from the baking earth to the cooler cobalt skies supplying an ideal lift for paragliders and on good days you can fly forever. Many of the world’s records have been set in De Aar and Kuruman where flights of up to 350km have been recorded. The Fly De Aar aerodrome site launches predominantly by winch, although mountain top launches are also possible.
